Workamping & enjoying it.

We are in "Sorta" Southern MO. 1st experience at workamping. Lots of NEW experiences and we are loving it. Camp Owners are a delight. Scary! Julie and I are very much alike as are Her Bill and Mine.

Lots of conservation area around here so hunters are coming for the weekends from KS, Iowa, Ark, and Okla.

Thanksgiving Dinner was more food than I have seen since we left PA and ate sometimes at "Family Style " restaurants. Needless to say LOTS of leftovers.

Learning a lot and one of the important things we have learned is that Nevada is pronounced NeVAYda. NeVAYda, Mo and NeVAYda Iowa were here long before Nevada was made a state... :O)

Oshkosh 2009

Oshkosh, Wi. The Eaa Airventure extravaganza, the Largest air show in the world.

The first thing that had to be done of course was to put our foot print on our area. Nancy Brookshire, (our organizer this year) and Barb King went to a lot of trouble to get our sign "Just Right" The Scholler Park Rangers were so inmpressed, they are saving it for us for next year.

Some of us arrived on Thursday, July 30th, and from then on till we were a grand total of 17 Bluebird Coaches. We are Vintage Birds. That means our coaches, not us. :)

Maxwell Family Reunion 2009

We were on our way, Monday for the Reunion on Saturday in Lima, Ohio. Excited about Carolyn and Bill meeting us early at a park, their first long trip in their new Travel Trailer.
Oh well, these things happen. We were about 1 hour from home and decided to spend the night. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

The Reunion was great, there were actually 6 sites at the park inhabited by family.
Maybe in 2011 we will have more.

Since we are all spread out and do not get to see each other it was great seeing the family
we remember and getting to know the next generation better.

Had a fish fry two nights. Kay's Ben was chef the first night, and then Tod brought fish
for the next night. No, I cannot say which one was the best, they were both awesome.

We spent the time before the "Official Reunion" just enjoying each other.

A neighborhood friend from 58, yes 58 years ago came by and visited with us all. It was great. She came the first day and told Carolyn and Bill, she was with the Lima Tourist Committee. Proceeded to interview her and she fell for it till I got there and gave her a big hug. You all remember, Carolyn has always been my straight man, and now looks like she is MaryAnn's straight man also.

We took a tour of our old neighborhood. Our little house, that Mother paid $600.00 for in 1941 is the best in the neighborhood now. She would be so proud.

As you can tell, the families are all color coordinated. Mother's family in Blue, Aunt Marg's in PINK. Still cannot believe my cousin Ed did not wear pink.....

There were some changes in addresses, etc. that I am still waiting for, to complete my data on the family. Yes this is a hint for the Family.

It was a great Reunion, and the next one will even be better. Hopefully when everyone can make it. A possible 200+ in our family, tho only about 1/4 could make it this year.
Still a great time was had by all, I believe.

Lebanon, IN & Indy 500 Race Track

May 21 - 24, 2009

We met 3 other bluebirder Friends in Indiana.

Have not experienced the fun of the Indy 500 since we were teenagers. Did not go to the race, came back home to watch it on TV. But the McKeehan's and the Brookshire's stayed to enjoy the race. They were parked 40 yards from the track, we were all together for a delicious dinner at their campsite the night before. So we did get to experience some of the madhouse that is the Indy 500. People walking the streets, all with a cup in their hands and some pulling their luggage on wheels. NO, I do not know what was in the luggage.

The Owen's, fulltimers for many years are going to settle for a while in a beautiful condo. one car, one RV Garage. Talk about the "life of Riley". Beautiful setting, right on our way to Ft Wayne, so we will be able to stop and visit on our way to see family.

The 8 of us had a great time, as we always do. Trust me YOU DO MEET MANY NICE PEOPLE, RVing.

Did get to a nice restaurant in Jeff Gordon's home town, Pittsboro, IN. There were too many pictures and memorabilia to take in. If you ever get a chance, stop in, and if you go on Friday at noon, the big table is the Johnson Clan, tell them you know Janet and Jerry and they will welcome you with open arms, Great Family.

Thunder Over Louisville (KY)

1ST Excursion since spending the Winter In IL.

We traveled to Clarkesville, IN and met up with John McGinnis, a fellow Bluebirder. Since they were expecting 700,000 people or more to view the 5th largest air show and THE largest fireworks display in the country, he very graciously tried to make our experience the best. He led us to te KOA which was about 4 blocks from the Ohio river, where all the action was going to be.
In case you have never heard of "Thunder over Louisville" it is the start of the Kentucky Derby celebrations. For two weeks, every day there will be something going on. *visit www.courier-journal.com to see more.

Later that day, we met John's delightful wife Fran. They were great hosts. We ate dinner in a Mediteraan Restaurant that was great. Bill even found something he enjoyed. John and Fran took us on a tour of the area, the city was very interesting.

Saturday was THE DAY! We considered making Fran go to the River at 6am to get us good seats, but we relented and all walked over to the River about 2:30pm. It was getting crowded already. The airshow started about 3pm and lasted about 6 hours. LOTS of military. Quite a bit different than Oshkosh. Very exciting.

It was very crowded by then, but when the fireworks started it was wall to wall and constant activity on the walkway in front of us.

Oh what a sight the Fireworks were! I will probably NEVER enjoy July 4th fireworks as much again. It was like watching 30 minutes of Grand Finale fireworks o July 4th.

Headed home Sunday morning, took about 4 hours. Beautiful countryside. had a great weekend. If you ever get a chance to experience "Thunder Over Louisville", DON'T MISS IT.

Winter in Illinois

March 2009

Cannot believe the Blue Bird has not been out of the driveway all winter. We have made a couple of short trips to Indiana but not in the RV. Visited with Dave and Norma, my Brother and Sis in law, Bill's Brother Gale, and Good friends in town from AZ. Guess if we don't make it to AZ to see them, they will fly in to see us. Seriously, they were visiting their family and other friends and we just intruded. SOOO, what's wrong with that?? And of course we did stop while we were in Indiana to visit with Jerry and Janet.

When I realized I had not posted since the middle of November 08, figured I would catch you up a little.

The bird's fuel tank is full, of course, when the price was 1.50 more than it is now. I keep telling Bill we need to use it up so we can put some of the cheaper Diesel in it. He is not listening to me again. Oh Well.

We do have some plans for this year, but you know with this economy, we shall see. I WILL get on this page and keep you informed.

Keep Smilin

Dorothy & Bill
